Emma Dimmock [d.6]

Emma Dimmock was christened November 25th, 1849 at Sandridge, St Albans, Hertfordshire, the second child of Mary Adams & David Dimmock, a timber carter/labourer.

In 1851 Emma & her parents were living at Sandridge, Herts.  Emma had 3 older half-brothers & one half-sister at home.

Emma was still living at home in 1861, now at Adelaide St, St Albans.  She now had 3 younger brothers & 2 younger sisters.  Her half-sister, Susanna Adams, was still with the family.

In 1871 the family were living at Lattimore Rd, Tyttenhanger, St Albans.  Her 3 younger brothers & 2 younger sisters were still at home.  Emma was now working as a silk throwster.

By 1881 Emma had left home & was living at 14 Blenheim Terrace, Marylebone, London & working as a general servant for widower Benjamin Martin, a whitesmith, & his family.

Emma had moved to 8 Algernon Road, Willesden, Middlesex by 1891 & was again working as a general domestic servant for Elizabeth & George Evans, a house decorator.

In 1901 Emma was found at 82 Ashburnham Road, Willesden & described as a general servant.  With her listed on the census were 2 children, Lottie (15) & George (14) Moulton.  They were described as ‘daughter’ & ‘son’ however they were the children of Elizabeth J & Robert James Moulton, a draper, who appear to have been holidaying at this time at Beach Villa, Ringwould, near the coast in Kent.  Presumably Emma was taking care of the children.

Emma was living with her 87 year old widowed mother Mary in 1911 at 142 London Rd, St Albans, Herts.

Emma & her sister Lizzie eventually came to live at 41 Park St, Frogmore, near St Albans.

Emma died, aged 84, at 41 Park St, Frogmore, St Albans & was buried August 1st, 1934 at Holy Trinity, Frogmore.
